BOSE AND NME UNVEIL C24 MIXTAPE WITH ARTISTS, TRACKLIST, AND 19TH JULY RELEASE DATE

July 11, 2024 — Today, NME in partnership with Bose, a brand obsessed with sound for 60 years, announce the latest instalment in NME’s iconic C-Series mixtape. In its second year, NME’s C24 collaboration with Bose showcases the future of music with established and breakout artists — with a limited-edition NME C24 magazine, vinyl, and cassettes coming soon.

Notably, the first track from the mixtape, ‘Funeral’ is an exclusive new single by breakthrough Georgia-born singer-songwriter, Teddy Swims. Available to stream and download across all platforms tomorrow, ‘Funeral’ is also the subject of a bespoke new Bose x NME limited series, On Tape, which features Swims getting inked on the spot in a London tattoo parlour, and talking about his hard-won rise to stardom, before laying down a scintillating live performance of the song.

Written earlier this year, as Swims sought solace during a chaotic Grammys week by holing up in the studio, ‘Funeral’ offers an update on the healing journey chronicled in his debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part One), which reached the top 20 in both the US and UK, and its Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping (and UK number 2-charting) lead single ‘Lose Control’.

“‘Funeral’ is fun, upbeat and it’ll make people want to dance, but there’s a layer of sadness underneath that,” says Swims of the song. “I love being able to make music that has joy but is heartbreaking at the same time. We’re finally at the point where we’re honing a certain sound. It’s all about this old soul, Motown feel but modernising that in a way that feels authentic. Songs like ‘Funeral’ just feel right.”

The full tracklist for C24 boasts exclusive new songs from some of the hottest artists in the world including ArtemasLaufeyRoyal OtisLola Young and Samara Cyn. Alongside them is Tehya, who was hand-picked by the judges of C24’s new artist competition in association with social music creation platform BandLab to find an unsigned emerging artist to get their big break by featuring on the mixtape.
