Replacing the wax guards

The wax guards on your hearing aids prevent earwax from affecting the components in your hearing aids. Find our how to replace the wax guards.

Replace the wax guards.

The white plastic screens under the eartips are the wax guards. It is recommended to replace them about every 3 months, or when they have significant earwax buildiup.
  1. On the hearing aid, remove the eartip. For more info, see Changing ear tips

  2. At the end of the speaker, insert the smaller, ridged end of the wax guard tool into the center of the white wax guard
Tip: The wax guard replacement tool is included with your new wax guards

  3. Pull out the old wax guard and remove it from the end of the wax guard tool
Tip: Angle the tip of the wax guard tool so it presses against the inside of the wax guard, then pull back to remove it
  4. Pick up the new wax guard by inserting the larger, white end of the wax guard tool into the center of the new wax guard
  5. Guide the new wax guard into the the speaker so that it's flush with the top of the speaker, then pull the tool straight out
Tip: Be sure the wax guard sits flush against the speaker. This ensures it's secure and helps prevent it from falling off in your ear canal

  6. Reattach the earip. For more info, see Changing ear tips.
