Cleaning and maintaining your hearing aids
Regular maintenance is important to keep your product working and sounding its best. Find information about cleaning your hearing aids and replacing parts, like eartips, batteries and more.
Here are some tips for regular care of your hearing aids.
Product updates
When an update is available, the app will alert you. Even if you've already configured your hearing aids, be sure to open the app occasionally to check for updates. Install any available updates for the latest features and improvements. For more info, see Updating the software or firmware of your product.
Daily maintenance
After removing your hearing aids, remove earwax and debris from the eartips and microphones using the provided cleaning brush. This helps prevent buildup that could affect audio performance. (Tip: Do not use the metal end of the cleaning brush since this could push earwax further into the hearing aid.)
Weekly maintenance
• When you hear “Low battery,” from one of the hearing aids, replace the battery in that hearing aid. The batteries in your hearing aids last about 4 days when used 14 hours a day. For more info, see Replacing the battery in your product.
• Once a week, wipe the cable and the outside of the hearing aid body with a soft, lint-free cloth. This helps keep your hearing aids clean and prolong the life of the parts.
Quarterly maintenance
• We recommend replacing the eartips every 3 months; however, this can vary. If the eartips become discolored, stiff, or fall off when you remove your hearing aids, replace the eartips immediately. For more info, see Changing ear tips.
• We recommend replacing the wax guards (the white plastic screens at the ends of each speaker) every 3 months. However, this can vary since earwax differs by person. If the wax guards get blocked by earwax buildup or you notice that the hearing aids sound quieter than usual, replace the wax guards and the eartips immediately. For more info, see Replacing the wax guards.
Yearly maintenance
We recommend replacing the hearing aid cables every year. However, if the cables appear damaged or you experience quiet, intermittent or crackly audio, replace the cables immediately. For more info, see Replacing the hearing aid cable.
